LAURA ASHLEY AND BATSHEVA UNVEIL FOURTH COLLECTION

April 28, 2023

London, UK – Apr. 24th – The latest capsule from the Laura Ashley and Batsheva collaboration marks the brand’s 70th anniversary with the brand’s hero print, Tulips. The joyful design sets the mood for the whole collection and will debut on Monday, April, 24th.

The fourth capsule is the most diverse in terms of styles and shapes, taking inspiration from an 80’s design aesthetic. This is the first launch to include trousers and shorts. The Hauls trousers are voluminous and fun and the Lissen short have a wide leg for a maximalist look and feel. The collection also includes ruched dresses and playful top designs.

The Laura Ashley archive continued to be an inspiration in the design process for Batsheva Hay with the brand’s 70th anniversary providing a platform to revisit designs from the past. She explains, “I feel very lucky to be part of the Laura Ashley 70th anniversary year. I looked through the archive prints, selecting ones that work together but have enough variety. Then I go to archival sketches and catalogues to think of ideas for silhouettes, and I riff on those.”

“For this collection, Tulips and Honnigtoft Shells gave me a perfect launchpad, with memories of those prints from my youth. What I love about this collection is that there are pieces to wear at the beach or to a wedding. A lot of the tops would be great work with jeans, or you can mash the iconic prints together.”

Carolyn D’Angelo, Senior Managing Director, Gordon Brothers Brands and President of Laura Ashley Global, says: “Our previous three collections with Batsheva have been very successful so we’re delighted to launch our fourth capsule, especially in this very special 70th anniversary year for Laura Ashley.”

Remarking on her favourite piece in the collection, Batsheva adds, “I love the Wednesday Dress in Duxford Pines. The print is perfectly summery, and the dress is so much fun to move in. It is the ideal picnic on the beach dress.”

With prices ranging from $140 to $325 the 19 designs include dresses, blouses, shorts, trousers and skirts. The collection will be available to purchase at Batsheva.com, lauraashleyusa.com, Net a Porter, Shopbop, Lisa Says Gah, Shop Showroom, Tuckernuck, and other specialty boutiques.

ABOUT BATSHEVA

Batsheva is a New York-based ready-to-wear brand for women and girls. Founded in 2016 by Batsheva Hay, Batsheva plays with American styles of feminine dress – from Victorian to Pioneer; from Housewife to Hippie – by taking elements symbolic of restraint and repression (high collars, voluminous sleeves and skirts) and giving them a modern inflection. By retooling historical looks, Batsheva explores how to extract the strong and beautiful aspects of those styles while rejecting antiquated notions of womanhood. www.batsheva.com
