We’re all very busy preparing for the spookiest of all holidays-- making scrumptious treats in the form of creepy crawly things and creating imaginative costumes for our tots to wear on Halloween. Thankfully for us working mummies, there are a plethora of resourceful mums on the web willing to share their steps for creating beautifully hand-made costumes.
At Laura Ashley we have a special appreciation for things made by hand, so we are delighted to share just a few of our favourite home-made costumes worth celebrating this year.

For our mums on top of the fashion trends, this lovely peacock costume from the sisters at Shwin and Shwin is spot on. And if you are looking to coordinate a tote for your little peacock, her namesake colour is Deep Teal, Pantone 19-4914.
Also noteworthy is this adorable owl costume from Lisa Storms over at Fiskars. Her use of colour and texture is artful! And as a bonus for us last minute mums, the project time is but an hour!
Finally, top honors for inspired design goes to one of our own Facebook fans… Sarabeth of Charlotte is a resourceful mother of four and a genius with the needle and thread. Sarabeth found a store-bought cheeseburger suit and the inspiration for the rest of the family!
On task to creating a “Happy Meal” theme, our savvy Sarabeth purchased foam scraps from a furniture supplier to make the fries. She constructed the fry box with cardboard and spray paint and made the drink using a light, flexible screen, fabric, poster board and a swimming noodle. And the baby? Why she’s the toy of course!
